Most people use Claude like a smarter search bar. Ask a question, get an answer, move on. That's fine. But there are three features right now that turn Claude from a thing you ask into a thing that runs work for you — and almost nobody is stacking them together.
I run a salon and I've set up these systems for other operators. The difference between someone getting a little value out of Claude and someone running a one-person shop like a ten-person team comes down to these three. Let me walk you through each, the right way, with the actual feature names so you don't get corrected by some commenter who watched a different video.
Hack 1: Build a skill instead of re-explaining yourself
Here's the pattern that's quietly stealing your Mondays. Every week you sit down and re-explain to your assistant — human or AI — exactly how you want the weekly report. The format. The tone. The order things go in. What to leave out. You're paying a tax on the same instructions over and over.
Stop doing that. Tell Claude once what good looks like, and save it as a reusable skill.
The tool for this is built in. In Cowork, type /skill-creator. It doesn't just take your description and guess — it interviews you, asking up to three quick questions about the goal, the inputs, and what you actually want out the other end. That interview is the part most people skip, and it's the part that makes the skill good.
One thing worth getting right: use the explicit /skill-creator command. If you just say "make me a skill," Claude may improvise the structure instead of loading the real skill-building infrastructure, and you'll get something flimsier.
And the genuine pro move — don't build the skill from a blank page. Run the whole workflow live first. Make Claude produce the report, give it feedback until the output is exactly what you'd send, then reverse-engineer that finished result into a skill. You're not describing what you want in the abstract. You're capturing something that already worked.
Next Monday, you type one word. It already knows your format, your tone, your structure. The tax is gone.
Hack 2: Consolidate your memory so it stops giving stale answers
Claude remembers things across sessions now — your clients, your processes, your preferences. That's powerful, and it's also the part that quietly rots if you don't maintain it.
Here's the problem. Over months, that memory accumulates noise. You changed your pricing in March, but a note from last year is still floating in there. A client moved to a different package, but the old detail never got cleared. Contradictions pile up, and Claude starts confidently handing you answers based on facts that aren't true anymore. Nothing erodes trust in an AI faster than it telling you last year's price like it's current.
The fix is memory consolidation. Anthropic's official version of this is called Dreaming — it's their between-session memory cleanup, and it's in research preview right now. The idea is borrowed from how your own brain works: it does a pass over your stored memory, merges the duplicates, resolves the contradictions, and clears out the stale stuff. The early enterprise numbers on this are not small — one firm reported a roughly 6x improvement in task completion after memory got consolidated.
Quick correction on something you'll hear repeated wrong: this cleans up your memory — facts and preferences — not your skills. Skills are deliberate instruction files you build and edit on purpose; they don't silently contradict each other the way accumulated memory does. So when you think about consolidation, think "kill the outdated pricing," not "merge my report templates."
Run this periodically and your AI stops drifting. The answers stay current because the memory underneath them is current.
Hack 3: Set the outcome and walk away
This is the one that actually frees up your day. Most people babysit Claude step by step — do this, okay now do this, now this. You're still the bottleneck. You've just made the bottleneck faster.
Instead, tell Claude the finish line and let it work toward it. The feature for this is called Outcomes — it's in public beta — and it lets you define success as a rubric instead of a sequence of steps. You're not scripting the path. You're defining what "done" means.
That looks like:
"Follow up on every overdue invoice. Don't stop until each one has a sent or scheduled reminder."
"Get this proposal to the point where it's ready to send."
"Clear the support inbox — every message either answered or flagged for me."
Then it goes. It works through the task, and the key part: it checks its own output against the finish line you set after each step, and it keeps going until the job actually meets the bar — not until it's done one pass and gotten bored. You set the target. You walk away. You come back to finished work, not a half-done task waiting on your next nudge.
A fair note: Outcomes and Dreaming are both early — public beta and research preview respectively. So point them at real work, but stay in the loop on anything high-stakes for now. That's not a knock; it's just where these features are this month.
Stack them
Here's where it gets good. None of these is the hack on its own. The hack is the stack.
You set the outcome with Outcomes. The work gets done against a skill you built with /skill-creator, so it comes out in your format and your voice every time. And memory consolidation keeps the whole thing sharp underneath, so Claude is always working from current facts instead of last year's.
